Environmental Initiatives earn National Recognition
Shrimad Rajchandra Gurukul has been recognised among the top 20 schools across India at the EarthWise Awards for Schools 2026, marking a significant milestone in its journey of environmental stewardship. Organised by the Jane Goodall Institute India in partnership with the Vikram A. Sarabhai Community Science Centre and supported by Salesforce, the awards honour institutions creating meaningful environmental impact through innovation and student-led action.
This recognition applauds the Environmental Care initiatives of Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care, including projects such as Vrikshabandhan – an annual ritual of tying rakhis around trees, celebrated alongside Raksha Bandhan; Biopharmacy – growing medicinal plants and Gaucrete – making bricks out of cow dung. These programmes integrate sustainability into daily learning, encouraging students to engage with nature in a practical and conscious manner.
Rooted in the wisdom of South Gujarat’s tribal communities, the initiative fosters respect for nature while nurturing experiential understanding among students. As part of the award, students received the ‘Hope Through Science’ Resource Box, which included DIY activity manuals, books, and advanced gadgets to promote STEM learning and environmental education.
This achievement affirms that consistent, value-driven efforts can create lasting impact on the environment.
