From iconic landmarks to underserved communities, from defence institutions to corporate houses, SRMD Yoga’s worldwide celebrations reflected the universal appeal of yoga – not merely as a practice, but as a way of cultivating resilience, mindfulness, and deeper connection.
Celebrations at Shrimad Rajchandra Ashram, Dharampur
More than 450 participants gathered at the Dharampur Ashram on the morning of 21st June, joining the nationwide celebrations of the International Day of Yoga. Shri Arvind Patel, Hon’ble MLA of Dharampur, and other dignitaries graced the occasion, as participants performed the Common Yoga Protocol before immersing in a meditative sound bath. The session brought together local residents and civic leaders, senior citizens and school children, in a shared moment of stillness.
Strengthening those who Serve
One of the most significant aspects of this year’s outreach was its extensive engagement with India’s armed forces and security personnel. More than 1,500 participants from defence and security institutions experienced specially designed sessions combining asana, breathwork, and sound healing. A distinctive addition this year were the wisdom masterclasses conducted in collaboration with SRMD Courses, offering participants practical mental health tools to handle uncertainty, stress, and changing workplace demands through perspective-shifting activities and team-based challenges.
At INS Dwarka and the Indian Coast Guard establishments near the iconic Sudarshan Setu, multiple sessions were conducted for officers and personnel. Sessions were also organised for the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC), where senior officials participated alongside their teams.

Redefining the Yoga Experience
While traditional practices remained at the heart of this year’s celebrations, innovative experiences that made wellness more engaging and memorable were also introduced.
Participants explored Aqua Yoga and Floating Sound Baths, Electronic Dance Yoga, Partner Yoga, FIFA Football Yoga, live national television Sound Healing in Kenya, rooftop yoga under the stars, and Chair Yoga. Premium collaborations with organisations including JW Marriott, Hyatt, and Nykaa Wellness brought SRMD Yoga into lifestyle spaces – demonstrating its relevance across cultural boundaries.

Taking Wellness where it Matters the Most
The true essence of yoga lies in inclusivity, and the 2026 celebrations brought this principle to life through meaningful outreach.
One of the most distinctive initiatives was an Aerial Yoga session conducted for visually impaired individuals at the Kumudben Dwarkadas Vora Institute – an experience that used sensory cues and tactile alignment to offer participants the liberation of flight. This challenged conventional perceptions of accessibility and demonstrated that the benefits of yoga can be embraced by everyone, regardless of physical limitations.
In Bengaluru, a yoga and sound healing session welcomed over 80 students from the National Association for the Blind – including deaf and non-verbal participants – with the care and intentionality that every human being deserves.
Special programmes were also conducted for inmates at the Vadodara Central Jail, youth at Chembur Remand Home, students at government educational institutions, and communities in underserved areas.

Bringing Balance into the Workplace
Several corporations hosted specially curated sessions featuring chair yoga, guided breathwork, mindfulness exercises, and sound meditation designed for the realities of modern work environments. Organisations across healthcare, wellness, technology, real estate, and finance embraced these initiatives as opportunities to build healthier, more balanced workplaces.
Beyond a Celebration: A Way of Life
International Day of Yoga may be marked annually, yet its true significance extends far beyond a single occasion. The experiences of 2026 reaffirmed that wellness is not a destination but a lifelong journey. Through mindful movement, conscious breathing, inner reflection, and meaningful connection, individuals can cultivate greater harmony within themselves and the world around them.
SRMD Yoga’s global celebration with 100-plus events reflected a larger vision – one where wellness becomes a shared journey, communities unite, and inner wellbeing becomes the foundation for a more compassionate and conscious society. The remarkable reach of these celebrations demonstrated what becomes possible when timeless wisdom meets collective intention.
