Felicitation of Doctors Instrumental in Pujya Gurudevshri’s Bypass Surgery

Packed with thousands of seekers, the Yogi Sabhagruh resounded with ecstatic cheers when over 5 weeks after bypass surgery, the emperor of their hearts Pujya Gurudevshri arrived on stage.

Opening his heart to seekers, Atmarpit Nemiji came forward to share the finer details of Pujya Gurudevshri’s health and surgery. He disclosed that the Master’s vital parameters had suddenly deteriorated after the surgery, sending panic signals amidst senior doctors. Like an umpire is an onlooker and never gets out, He always remained detached and unaffected. A video, aptly titled ‘Udayo Vacche Gurudev’, reflected the Master’s unmoved, untouched and calm state in altering circumstances and adversities.

The panel of doctors instrumental in Pujya Gurudevshri’s Bypass Surgery were endearingly felicitated by the President and the Trustees of the Mission. The honouring commenced with leading cardiothoracic surgeon with more than 15,000 successful surgeries to his credit, Dr Sudhansu Bhattacharyya who performed the Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting Surgery.

The team of Doctors felicitated comprised of Padma Shri Dr Ashwin Mehta, Dr Kanti Patel, Dr Bhupendra Gandhi, Dr Pratit Samdani and Dr Aashish Contractor. Caring for the Sadguru like a father, cardiologist Dr Ashwin Mehta was present in the operation theatre for over six hours during the surgery out of love for Pujya Gurudevshri. ENT Specialist and a devotee of BAPS Swaminarayan organisation, Dr Kanti Patel coordinated with various senior doctors before and after the Sadguru’s surgery ensuring smooth flow of activities. Dr Bhupendra Gandhi, one of India’s leading nephrologists, played a key role in aiding the Master’s health and maintaining His physical stability. An MD Physician and Intensivist, Dr Pratit Samdani specialises as a Consulting Internist (Internal Medicine). He ensured Pujya Gurudevshri’s diabetes stayed under control and He did not contract any infections during the period. Revealing a private conversation he had with the Master, Dr Samdani stated that Pujya Gurudevshri was very concerned about the expenditure on His surgery and asked him to move Him to a government hospital so that the money saved could be used for humanitarian purpose. Dr Aashish Contractor is a leader in Cardiac Rehabilitation and Preventive Cardiology. He played a pivotal role in ensuring that Pujya Gurudevshri’s body regains strength after the major surgery. The book, Asato Ma Sadgamaya – Lead me from Untruth to Truth, by Pujya Gurudevshri; was launched by the doctors on the occasion.

Sevaks who extended themselves wholeheartedly to ensure that their beloved Sadguru regained physical health were also lovingly felicitated. Combining the heart of a devotee and the brain of a surgeon, Trustee of Shrimad Rajchandra Medical Trust, Sharnarpit Dr Hitesh Mehta was always available and efficiently handled the medical procedures. Dr Ritaben Dixit, an Anaesthetist by profession, was another pillar of support standing by Atmarpit Nemiji in tough times. Assisting the Master in post-operative physiotherapy, Atmarpit Dr Payalben offered selfless seva in His recuperation. Seekers also heartily thanked Sarvarpit Amit Sheth whose blood was given to Pujya Gurudevshri during the medical emergency.

The entire audience stood up on their feet to applaud the sevak whose overwhelming devotion and absolute love for Pujya Gurudevshri came to the fore during this trying period, Atmarpit Nemiji. Whether it was taking pre-emptive steps to ensure Pujya Gurudevshri’s wellness in Shimla or imbibing the minutest medical detail regarding His health or staying up day and night while He was in the ICU, Atmarpit Nemiji left no stone unturned. Pujya Gurudevshri fondly bestowed blessings upon him.

The crowning glory of the evening was the empowering pravachan of the Master that infused seekers with inspiration to practise the art of being an onlooker. Pujya Gurudevshri said that there is no discomfort to the observer. While ordinary mortals shudder at the thought of pain, He expressed that He had no hitch in saying ‘once more’ to the entire journey.
