In the modern materialistic world, cruelty towards animals has reached alarming proportions. Animals are ruthlessly killed merely for human taste and fashion. Hordes of innocent mute animals are sent to slaughter houses. Vegetarianism is on a steady decline. Compassion cannot be restricted only to humans; it must extend to all life forms. Often, we see the eyes of these suffering animals trying to reach out to us, crying out in pain, but we choose to ignore them. I have realised that animals need our care and protection more, as they feel the same pain like us, but cannot express it! I came to know about this loving and compassionate initiative named Animal Care under Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care (SRLC) which seeks to spread the message of ahimsa worldwide, through numerous benevolent activities. It provides shelter and a safe haven to animals and adopts various activities to nurture bonds of love and friendship among all living beings. To rescue innocent and helpless animals from slaughter houses, to shelter them, and look after their well-being is an important part of the SRLC Animal Care activities. On various auspicious occasions throughout the year, thousands of animals are rescued and placed in appropriate shelters. Maintenance expenses are provided to panjrapoles where rescued animals are rehabilitated. Till date over 15,000 animals have been saved and rehabilitated under this programme. These animals have been given a new life by not only rescuing them from slaughter houses but by ensuring that they spend the remaining part of their lives in better living conditions. Yes, the mute cries of these animals have been heard! Let us make the lives of the less fortunate, festive!
