Christmas, the festival of giving, the most eagerly awaited time of the year for the old and the young alike, is an occasion to share our joy with the near and dear ones. This year, we the children of Ashburn Magictouch have chosen to celebrate Christmas in a unique way, by making it a reason to bring joy in the lives of numerous children who are deprived of basic education, a privilege we so often take for granted. The current state of the education scenario in India is very sad. A large section of remote India has remained deprived of this basic necessity. Dharampur falls in one of the major tribal belts of South Gujarat. An innovative and integrated educational approach to maximize the potential of the tribal people in this area is most required to help them escape the vicious cycle of ignorance and poverty. Educational Care - an initiative of Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care (SRLC) is doing impressive work in the field of formal education for the less privileged from these rural areas. Especially with respect to the field of science, the options for deserving underprivileged students to pursue higher education are very limited. Recognizing the need of the area for quality education, Shrimad Rajchandra Gurukul - a secondary and higher secondary school in Karanjveri, has been started. This school provides highest quality of education, with a fully equipped infrastructure consisting of science labs, a computer lab, library, residential facility, sports facility etc. A rural residential school for children situated in a remote interior village was adopted in the year 2004. The school was named - Shrimad Rajchandra Vidyavihar. It is located in the village of Tamachhadi, in the Dharampur district of Gujarat. The school has been expanded to include higher grades of 9th and 10th standards, new teachers, more number of students, and overall improvement in the quality of education. This festive season, let us take a step towards making a difference in someone's life, by helping spread the light of knowledge and making the lives of the less fortunate, festive!
