Guacamole

Avocado, commonly known as makhanphal or roochira in India, has achieved the distinction of being one of the world’s perfect foods. It is because nutritionists believe that it is not only high in nutritional value but also helps in prevention and control of Alzheimer’s, cancer, heart diseases and diabetes. Avocados are rich in healthy monounsaturated fats, fiber content and vitamins B, E and K. While monounsaturated fats provide energy, fibers help in efficient bowel movements, appetite control and the vitamins aid in the body’s metabolism and strengthen the bone density.

Here is a refreshing recipe that will help us to incorporate this amazing fruit in our diet:

Guacamole

Guacamole is an avocado based dip that originated in Mexico.

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1 tomato chopped into small pieces
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon coriander
  • 1 tablespoon curd
  • Jalapeno, chopped
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • 1. Scoop out the pulp of avocado and blend it with the curd in a mixer. Alternatively you may just mash it with fork too.
  • 2. Take this paste in a bowl and add all the remaining ingredients in it. Mix them well.
  • 3. The guacamole is ready. Serve this cold with tortilla chips.
