Hon’ble President of India visits Shrimad Rajchandra Ashram Dharampur

The eventful day of February 13 witnessed the arrival of Hon’ble President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, at the sacred environs of the Ashram in the august presence of Pujya Gurudevshri. This occasion was also attended by esteemed dignitaries including the Hon’ble Governor of Gujarat, Shri Acharya Devvrat; Cabinet Minister of Gujarat, Dr Kuber Dindor; Hon’ble State Minister, Shri Jagdish Panchal and Principal Secretary of Tribal Development Agency, Dr A.S. Murli Krishna.

Smt Droupadi Murmu is the first President of India who comes from the tribal community and has carried out several efforts for their upliftment. Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur has been successfully undertaking various initiatives in education, health, women empowerment and other areas for the benefit of the tribal people in rural South Gujarat since years, which has been appreciated by the Hon’ble President. Amidst an ambience of respect and admiration, the Hon’ble President embarked on a special tour of the Ashram, immersing herself in its spiritual splendour. Following the tour, the Hon’ble President arrived at the illustrious Raj Sabhagruh, where an exuberant multitude, both physically present and joining virtually, warmly welcomed her. President of Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur, Shri Abhay Jasani and Trustee of Shrimad Rajchandra Educational Trust, Smt Toral Jhaveri, welcomed the Hon’ble President with a bouquet and a stole. Pujya Gurudevshri warmly welcomed her with a Mission shawl.

The specially-curated programme commenced with lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the respected panel. Pujya Gurudevshri presented the Hon’ble President with an idol of Param Krupalu Dev and a replica of the Raj Sabhagruh. Atmarpits Smrutiji and Seemaji adorned the President with a garland made by tribal women, while the President of Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur, Shri Abhay Jasani felicitated her. Enthusiastic local women belonging to the tribal community from the women empowerment initiative Raj Uphaar offered handcrafted products as their gesture of love and admiration towards the Hon’ble President. The vibrant tribal community of the region accorded the Hon’ble President a heartfelt welcome through a traditional Dangi dance.

A video showcasing the myriad activities of the Mission was screened. The Hon’ble Governor, Shri Acharya Devvrat inaugurated Pujya Gurudevshri’s Hindi discourse series ‘Tabhi Ishwar Prasanna Honge’ and the meditation series ‘Kshama’. The first set of releases was gifted to the Hon’ble President in the pious presence of the Master.

Vice-president of Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur and Personal Secretary to Pujya Gurudevshri, Atmarpit Nemiji expressed on the occasion, “We consider ourselves extremely blessed to be devotees of Pujya Gurudevshri, the epitome of spirituality. We are extremely fortunate as citizens of the country, with the Hon’ble President as the custodian of spirituality, and highly privileged to be led by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, who has chosen the path of morality, humanity and spirituality.” Atmarpit Nemiji also extended whole-hearted support from the Mission towards the varied programmes that the Hon’ble President has initiated in her tenure and for those that the Government of India will bring forth in the future.

The Hon’ble Governor of Gujarat, Shri Acharya Devvrat, reflecting on his sentiments stated that, “India has been a country of great spiritual tradition since ancient times and in it, Shrimad Rajchandraji is a personality who will continue to inspire future generations. Revered Gurudevshri Rakeshji is working to spread the tradition of Shrimad Rajchandraji, through the universal values of life which are capable of creating an atmosphere of happiness, peace and joy on earth, by spreading those thoughts among the masses. For this, I salute Him. Working with the thought that the people, who are deprived, oppressed and suffering in this tribal area, should also get all the facilities that we in cities are getting, I congratulate Revered Gurudevshri Rakeshji.”

At the culmination of the programme, addressing the gathering the Hon’ble President shared, “I express my heartfelt respect towards the great spiritual tradition at Shrimad Rajchandra Ashram. Walking on the path marked by Shrimad Rajchandraji’s footsteps, Revered Gurudevshri Rakeshji has done unprecedented work in the spiritual field. He has dedicated His life to leading humanity towards peace and harmony and His noble work is a great contribution to the welfare of humanity. With more than 200 centres worldwide, this organisation not only enables individuals to gain knowledge and make their lives meaningful but also spreads this knowledge to the entire humanity. I cherish this sentiment”.

On that day, under the leadership of the Hon’ble President, another public event was organised in the Raj Sabhagruh for the upliftment of the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Man Yojana, in which she held a meeting with more than 350 representatives of the indigenous community of Gujarat.
