Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital Collaborates with Stanford University
Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital collaborated with the Government of Gujarat and Stanford University School of Medicine to host the third edition of the annual state level symposium. The theme of the three-day conference was ‘Evidence Based Perinatal Care’, organised for training gynaecologists and senior obstetrical nurses from government medical colleges, hospitals and centres. Delegates were trained on various aspects of advanced perinatal care through a variety of informative lectures, panel discussions, and hands-on orientation course. The primary focus was on delivering obstetrical care of the highest possible quality in order to improve mortality outcomes, especially for the mother delivering her baby.

The symposium also covered the ground-breaking research study carried out in Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital on Physiological Cord Clamping. The results of the study were also published in the prestigious American Journal of Perinatology. The Department of Health and Family Welfare, Gujarat has now advised all government hospitals and centres to adopt this method of delivery. Additionally, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India released an advisory requesting all states to implement this key intervention.

The international faculty at the symposium was led by Dr Nilima Ragavan-Clinical Professor of Paediatrics, Stanford University; Dr Kay Daniels-Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Stanford University and other distinguished members of the Stanford team.

Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital has officially been listed as a site offered by Stanford University’s Mary Duke Biddle Scholarship Programme. It is one of six globally supported sites, and the only such site in India. With this, selected medical students from Stanford University will be eligible to spend a minimum of six weeks providing clinical care at the hospital. It provides an opportunity to Stanford medical students to train or provide service in low-and-middle-income population. Through such initiatives, Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital continues to bring global best practices to the healthcare landscape in rural Gujarat!
