Ingredients

  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1½ cups red velvet cake mix
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 4 tbsp margarine
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon taj
  • 1½ cup whipped cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • canola oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Boil water, powdered sugar and margarine in a pot over medium heat.
  2. Add flour and cake mix. Stir vigorously until the mixture has no streaks.
  3. Take the pot off the heat and stir it until the dough attains uniform consistency.
  4. Transfer the dough to a piping bag with a size 9 star tip. Pipe three to four inches strips of the dough on a baking sheet to form the churros. Freeze them for 30 minutes.
  5. Heat the canola oil in a pot over medium heat. Fry the red velvet churros for about three to four minutes.
  6. Remove them and drain the oil on paper towels.
  7. Using a straw, poke a hole through the centre of the churros to hollow out a cavity for the filling.
  8. In a plate, mix cinnamon and granulated sugar. Roll the hollowed out churros in this mixture.
  9. In a medium bowl, mix cream, confectioners’ sugar and vanilla extract, stirring it until smooth to form the filling.
  10. Transfer this filling into a piping bag with a round tip. Pipe it into the churros.
  11. Serve this delicious and tasty Red Velvet Churros.
