80-plus youth from Dharampur participated in a seven-day residential camp for disaster preparedness and emergency response
Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care, under its Consolidated Community Development initiative which works closely with rural communities for their socio-economic upliftment, hosted the Yuva Aapda Mitra Talim at Shrimad Rajchandra Ashram, Dharampur.
The camp was conducted in partnership with MY Bharat (Mera Yuva Bharat), SPIPA (Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration), and GSDMA (Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority), under the aegis of the Valsad District Administration.
During the week-long camp, the youth received hands-on training in flood rescue, fire safety, first aid, and CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), guided by trained instructors from GSDMA and NDRF (National Disaster Response Force). All participants were certified as ‘Yuva Aapda Mitra’ upon completion of the camp and were onboarded to the MY Bharat Seva platform as active disaster response volunteers.
These trained volunteers will also be integrated into the Consolidated Community Development village-level response teams, and will be mapped to 12 villages in Dharampur Taluka for rapid mobilisation in emergencies.
