The floods that swept across South Gujarat between 20 and 23 July left a trail of devastation across Valsad district. Record-breaking rainfall inundated villages, damaged homes, disrupted transport and communication, and displaced thousands of families. With the India Meteorological Department issuing a red alert for three consecutive days, communities across the region faced immense hardship as floodwaters submerged homes, roads, and public infrastructure. Parts of Valsad recorded some of the highest rainfall figures in the country, making it one of the most severe weather events the region has experienced in recent history.
Responding immediately to the crisis, Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care mobilised relief operations across more than 25 villages in the worst-affected areas of Dharampur, Kaprada, and Khergam talukas. Volunteers worked tirelessly to ensure that essential aid reached displaced families and vulnerable communities in remote locations.
Over the course of the relief mission, Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care distributed thousands of hot meals, food packets, and 1,550 ration kits, ensuring uninterrupted access to food during the most critical days following the floods. To help families rebuild basic living conditions, volunteers also distributed 1,000-plus tarpaulins, 450-plus clothing items, 300-plus floor mats, and 200-plus raincoats to those who had lost their belongings or were living in temporary shelters.
The relief reached numerous villages and hamlets across Valsad district, while support was also extended to local authorities, police departments, municipal bodies, and gram panchayats coordinating the larger relief effort.
