Innovative Environmental Education

Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care has taken a significant leap in environmental education by engaging youth in hands-on sustainability projects. As part of a recent college exchange programme, students from Pune participated in the ‘Gaucrete Project’ at Shrimad Rajchandra Jivamaitridham.

Students learned to transform cow dung – often overlooked as waste – into eco-friendly bricks, using a unique manufacturing technology that blends dung with soil and limestone. The bricks so made are radiation-absorbing and temperature-regulating.

Through the FEEL (Faith for Earth Empathy Leadership) programme, a collaboration with the UN Environment Programme, over 100 students from Vidya Vikasini School, Mumbai were trained on the Miyawaki method of forest creation. This technique involves creating a micro-forest in a small space of land by planting different types of indigenous trees. The students were guided on how they can design their own Miyawaki forest by building a blueprint that they can eventually execute on their school campus.
