Gujarat Government Partners with Shrimad Rajchandra Educational Trust South Gujarat is home to many marginalised tribal communities. Inhabiting remote areas, these communities lack access to decent education, leading to sub-par outcomes – only 48% students graduate from Grade 10, 11,000-plus students dropout annually and just 2% of students move ahead to pursue higher education. Bringing to life Pujya Gurudevshri’s compassionate vision of providing every child with equal opportunities of learning, Shrimad Rajchandra Educational Trust endeavours to provide quality, holistic education to students across South Gujarat through a multitude of initiatives. The Trust provides vocational learning support, a unique multi-skill curriculum, career guidance, mid-day meals and supports students to increase Grade 10 academic performance. All these projects are being expanded to touch 13,000-plus students across 130-plus schools. These programmes have led to a marked improvement in learning levels, attendance and student motivation. Recognising this capability and empowering it to champion change at a higher level, the Government of Gujarat recently signed an MoU with the Trust, recognising it as a Knowledge and Implementation Partner for South Gujarat. The MoU was signed on the auspicious occasion of Jnan Pancham (29th October) between the Government’s Samagra Shiksha (SS) and Shrimad Rajchandra Educational Trust. SS is the overarching programme for school education under the Ministry of Education and marshals all levels of school education in the country – from preschool to senior secondary. With this MoU, Shrimad Rajchandra Educational Trust becomes the first implementation partner in Gujarat for supporting vocational training, career guidance and teacher training. It provides further access to schools and government bodies to run programmes, as well as participate in education-related committees and make recommendations for the overall improvement of education within the state. This partnership will enable Shrimad Rajchandra Educational Trust to further increase its reach and uplift the overall level of education in the region.
