Launch of Commemorative Coins and Stamp Honouring Param Krupalu Dev

On the monumental occasion of the 150th Birth Anniversary Year of the spiritual luminary Param Krupalu Dev, the Government of India released commemorative coins and stamp in His honour, which were launched in the august presence of Pujya Gurudevshri by the Honourable Prime Minister of India Shri Narendrabhai Modi. Commemorating the glorious occasion of Param Krupalu Dev’s 150th Birth Anniversary Year, under the inspiration and guidance of Pujya Gurudevshri, Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur is hosting year-long celebrations. One of the landmark events in the revelry was the launch of commemorative coins and stamp of Param Krupalu Dev in the divine presence of Pujya Gurudevshri by the Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi.

The festivities took on a heightened fervour, as the bustling city of Ahmedabad geared up to host the momentous occasion. From apprising press conferences held in multiple cities like Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Delhi to expansive coverage in print, electronic and social media; from strikingly visible hoardings, banners and posters across the city of Ahmedabad to designing special invites and intricately planning the event, Mission sevaks left no stone unturned to make this historic occasion an unforgettable experience.

The morning of June 29 experienced showers of grace as crowds thronged in thousands to Sabarmati Ashram to participate in the epic event. In the midst of loud cheers Pujya Gurudevshri arrived on stage to join the panel of eminent personalities. To celebrate Sabarmati Ashram’s Centenary year, Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi visited the Ashram premises and then joined the panel along with Honourable Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Vijaybhai Rupani. Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi immediately affectionately greeted Pujya Gurudevshri. The panel also included Honourable Governor of Gujarat, Shri Om Prakash Kohli; Honourable Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Nitinbhai Patel; Honourable Former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Smt Anandiben Patel; Minister of Tribal Development, Tourism, Forest – Gujarat, Shri Ganpatsinh Vasava; Member of Parliament and Actor, Padma Shri Paresh Rawal; Member of Parliament, Dr Kiritbhai Solanki; Mayor of Ahmedabad, Shri Gautambhai Shah; Chairperson of Sabarmati Ashram Preservation and Memorial Trust, Smt Elaben Bhatt; Director of Centre for Environment Education, Padma Shri Kartikeya Sarabhai and President – Shrimad Rajchandra Nijabhyas Mandap & Vihar Bhavan Trust (Ahmedabad – Vadva – Idar), Shri Arvindbhai Shah.

In a moving address, Pujya Gurudevshri extolled the virtues of Param Krupalu Dev highlighting the true essence of spirituality. He further highlighted how Mahatma Gandhi drew inspiration from the personification of the virtues of truth, non-violence, compassion etc. in Param Krupalu Dev’s life and how His thoughts and guidance catalysed Mohandas Gandhi’s transformation to a Mahatma. The Master also commended Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi’s respect for Param Krupalu Dev. The crowd rejoiced as Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi expressed heartwarming words eulogizing Param Krupalu Dev. He also expressed his love and respect towards Pujya Gurudevshri and lauded the impactful initiatives undertaken by Him. Honourable Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Vijaybhai Rupani, expressed his deep regards for Param Krupalu Dev and His great impact on Mahatma Gandhi. The audience comprising of government officials, special guests, invitees and devotees keenly watched a video depicting the life of Param Krupalu Dev.

Elation knew no bounds as the audience rose to their feet when the historic moment arrived. The Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi invited Pujya Gurudevshri to launch along with him two commemorative coins and a special postage stamp as a tribute to Param Krupalu Dev. The launch culminated with a warm exchange as Pujya Gurudevshri gifted Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi a sacrosanct pratimaji of Param Krupalu Dev. In honour of the outstanding vision and revolutionary steps taken by the Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi in making the nation powerful, Pujya Gurudevshri also presented him with the ‘Krantdrashta Karmayogi’ Award. Members of various organisations dedicated to Param Krupalu Dev like Shrimad Rajchandra Adhyatmik Sadhana Kendra – Koba, Shree Raj-Saubhag Ashram – Sayla, Shrimad Rajchandra Nijabhyas Mandap & Vihar Bhavan Trust (Ahmedabad – Vadva – Idar), Shrimad Rajchandra Gyan Mandir Trust – Rajkot, Sarvamangal Ashram – Sagodiya, Patan, Shrimad Rajchandra Sadhana Kendra – Kukma were also present at the prestigious event.

The launch of commemorative coins and stamp was a dream come true for the devotees of Param Krupalu Dev. Launch of Commemorative Stamp

The large gathering at Sabarmati Ashram witnessed the launch of a special Five Rupees postage stamp, First Day Cover and First Day Cancelled Cover released by the Department of Post, Government of India. Bearing the hallowed portrait of Param Krupalu Dev and the name ‘Shrimad Rajchandraji’ written on it, the stamp will be in normal trade circulation across the country.

Launch of Commemorative Coins

Under the authority of the Central Government, to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Param Krupalu Dev, two coins: One Hundred and Fifty Rupees and Ten Rupees were released. The face of the coins bear a portrait of Param Krupalu Dev in the centre. The coins have the following inscribed on them – Shrimad Rajchandra, 150th Birth Anniversary, 1867 and 1901 – marking the years of Param Krupalu Dev’s advent and departure from this world. The Ten Rupees coin will be in normal trade circulation across the country, while the One Hundred and Fifty Rupees coin serves as a souvenir.
