Relief Measures Undertaken for Australia’s Bushfires Australia spiralled into a state of emergency after hundreds of devastating wildfires ravaged the country severely affecting wildlife and destroying property, farmlands and infrastructure. Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care Australia undertook a campaign ‘Bushfire Appeal’; raised funds and volunteered to provide relief to affected communities, animals and the environment. Relief Efforts for Affected Communities: Volunteers partnered with a local organisation to buy and deliver daily essentials such as cereals, biscuits, sanitary items and cleaning products to the towns of Mogo and Lake Conjola in New South Wales. In the remote towns of Clarence and Dargan, kits containing items such as books, stationery and calculators were delivered to families to ensure that children can continue attending school without any disruption. Essential food items like milk, rice, sugar, salt and oil were donated to Food bank Australia in New South Wales. The Australia centres contributed towards the New South Wales Rural Fire Service, to ensure availability of well-equipped fire brigades and to enhance training and support provided to fire-fighters and volunteers. Relief Efforts for Animals: With thousands of koalas feared dead and many injured, volunteers participated in the ‘Adopt a Koala’ campaign organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature, Australia. Donations helped to provide food, bandages and medicines for injured koalas and to support the rehabilitation of their natural habitat. Support to the Humane Society International in their efforts to rescue kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, possums, birds and various native animals. Contribution towards the New South Wales Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service (WIRES), an organisation involved in animal search and rescue and preservation of wildlife. These efforts will assist in bringing normalcy to people’s lives and aid wildlife recovery.
