SRD Toronto Promotes Ahimsa at 2018 Parliament of World’s Religions

Started in 1893, the Parliament of World’s Religions (POWR) is a way to create global dialogue among different faiths.

The 2018 Parliament, held in Toronto, Canada, saw over 6000 delegates representing over 200 religions and spiritual practices, from over 80 countries.

Within the POWR was a 5 day programme, called the Interfaith Family Festival (IFF) which sought to provide experiential spiritual exploration for children, families, schools, faith groups, and those young at heart. Shrimad Rajchandra Divinetouch (SRD) Toronto promoted the principle of ahimsa through a stall at this event.

Stepping into the ‘Ahimsa (non-violence): Love One, Love All’ Divinetouch stall at the Parliament of World’s Religions visitors witnessed children exploring the meaning of ahimsa as:
  • Loving yourself and spreading joy
  • Living together in peace
  • Loving animals and living responsibly
  • Loving the green world

Through the fun-filled interactive games and educative videos at the stations in the stall, children from diverse faiths and cultures experienced a powerful inner transformation. The lessons imparted inspired them to widen their circle of love to embrace one and all.

The exhibit was graced by visits from a number of saints and dignitaries, including Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji, President and Spiritual Head – Parmarth Niketan Ashram, Rishikesh and venerable Bhikkhu Sanghasena, founder of the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC) in Ladakh.
