Announcement of Education Programme at UN Environment Assembly Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care was conferred the prestigious ‘Faith for Earth Councilor’ title in June 2021, under the ‘Faith for Earth’ initiative of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). This project is aimed at uniting religions around the world to focus on environmental issues, and one of the key pillars identified is to impart knowledge at the local level to empower individuals and communities to address environmental concerns. To achieve this, Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care recently announced the ‘Faith for Earth Empathy Leadership’ (FEEL) Programme – a course designed to make environmental education an emotional and experiential affair. The curriculum prioritizes transformation over information, and will help build empathetic leaders of tomorrow who understand the needs of the environment and can be champions of change in their fields. The FEEL Programme was announced on March 3rd during a Special Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) which took place online from Nairobi, Kenya. The Programme has six interactive modules which are spread across various spheres and touch upon the challenges of excess waste, pain of plastic, water scarcity, deforestation, imbalanced ecosystems and climate change. The course has two levels – Junior (8 to 12 years) and Senior (13 to 16 years), and all participants will be certified as ‘Empathy Leaders of the Environment’ upon completion. The programme was announced on behalf of Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care by Atmarpit Vidhiji and Vipul Shah – Chief Operating Officer, Petrochemicals at Reliance Industries Limited. The event had various notable speakers, including Brahma Kumari Sister Jayanti – Senior Rajyoga Teacher and International Motivational Speaker; Shri Gauranga Das – Director, ISKCON Govardhan Ecovillage; Shri Pinaki Dasgupta – Secretary, Shristi Cooperation Circle, United Religions Initiative; amongst others. The announcement of this global educational programme is testament to Pujya Gurudevshri’s vision of cultivating a sense of love and care within us for the entire ecosystem.
