Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care Participates in the ‘Faith for Earth’ Initiative of the United Nations

Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur was invited to the United Nations (UN) House in New Delhi on 19th March to participate in a series of cluster meetings organised under the ‘Faith for Earth’ initiative; a collaborative project between the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and United Religions Initiative (URI) aimed at uniting religions around the world to focus on environmental issues.

UNEP is the leading authority that sets the global environmental agenda and promotes the implementation of the various Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN. URI is a global grassroots interfaith network that cultivates peace and justice by bringing together different religions and cultures. Leading faith-based organisations like Art of Living (AOL), Brahma Kumaris, International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), Isha Foundation, etc. were invited to share their perspective and consult on a joint strategy for India on environmental sustainability and conservation.

The meetings were chaired by Dr. Iyad Abu Moghli – Founder and Director of UNEP’s ‘Faith for Earth’ Initiative, and attended by Ms. Divya Datt – Programme Coordinator, Ms. Gayatri Raghwa – UNEP Education Consultant, Ms. Subhi Dhupar – Regional Coordinator for URI Asia and Mr Bhavya Srivastava – Founding Member, International Association of Religion Journalists.

Sharnarpit Raman Tikka – Steering Committee Member and Sarvarpit Alpa Gandhi – Incharge of Communications and Media, represented the Mission and enumerated the environmental initiatives being undertaken at Shrimad Rajchandra Ashram Dharampur in the spheres of afforestation, bio-diversity, waste management, water recycling, ground-water recharging, etc. Pujya Gurudevshri’s leadership and work with the youth were mentioned and applauded at the meeting.

An informative book, titled ‘Culture of Compassion: Our Green Initiatives’ was presented at the meeting, portraying the Mission’s environmental vision, agenda, execution, and future plans.

As the Mission and its work continue to grow, its commitment to the environment and all forms of life remains strong as ever.
